Use your library
Pick up where you stopped
Section titled “Pick up where you stopped”Home puts books with saved progress under Continue and opens the format you used most recently. It also shows recently added titles and shelves for Want to read or listen and Finished.
Opening a title brings its ebook and audiobook editions together. From there you can start or continue reading or listening, change its reading status, add it to a collection, and—on iOS or Android—download it for offline use.
Find a title
Section titled “Find a title”Use Library to browse everything you can access. Sort by when titles were added or updated, or by title, then filter to readable, listenable, or synchronized books. Use Discover to search external catalogs by title, author, or ISBN.
If a search result is not in your library, Aldus may offer a request action. What you can request, whether it needs approval, and whether you can choose a specific release all come from your library permissions. If requests are unavailable, the screen explains what the server owner still needs to configure.
Set a reading status
Section titled “Set a reading status”From a title, select Set status and choose Want to read, Reading, or Finished. These statuses organize your own shelves; they do not change the book for anyone else. You can remove the status from the same dialog.
Make collections
Section titled “Make collections”Collections are private lists for grouping titles around a trip, reading goal, person, or theme. Create a collection from the Collections screen, then use Add to collection on any title. Removing a title from a collection does not remove it from the library or erase progress.
Follow requests and updates
Section titled “Follow requests and updates”Activity → Requests shows active, completed, canceled, and failed requests, with a timeline for each requested format. A request can be canceled only while its current state still allows it.
Activity → Updates groups notifications about books and requests. Opening an update marks it read and takes you to the related screen when one is available.
Manage your account
Section titled “Manage your account”Under Account, change your display name or password, sign out of the current device, sign out everywhere, and create or revoke KOReader and OPDS credentials. Account deletion is also available there; see the privacy policy before using it.
Series and narrators
Section titled “Series and narrators”Open Library to browse books your account can access. Books appear directly in a virtualized grid, with search built in: typing a title, author, series, or narrator name searches across all of them at once, surfacing any matching series or narrators above the matching books. The next batch of books loads automatically as you approach the bottom; a failed batch offers Retry while keeping loaded books visible. Returning from a book restores your library position and filters.
Browse opens Collections, Series, and Narrators — the three structured ways to look through your library besides searching. Filter & sort refines the current book grid by library and format. Its Book size control switches between Comfortable (two columns on phones) and Compact (three columns); this preference is saved on the device, and larger screens adapt the number of columns to their width.
Press and hold any book — in Library or on Home — to open its quick-action menu: jump to its detail page, start reading or listening, manage downloads, add it to a collection, or change its reading status, all without leaving the grid.
Use Discover to search external book catalogs and request ebooks or audiobooks. Tap a result to see its cover and description before requesting a format, or to choose a specific release if your account can. Results already in your library are marked and open directly to that book instead. Before you search, Discover shows what’s trending: an always-on Open Library feed, plus NYT Best Sellers lists once a server owner adds an API key under Acquisitions. The bottom navigation remains five items: Home, Library, Discover, Activity, and More. Each series belongs to its library, so matching names in different libraries stay separate. Counts and results include only books your account can access.
Series pages put numbered books first, in reading order, then books with an unknown position. Positions can include zero and up to three decimal places, such as 0, 1, or 1.5. A book’s details link to its series and the next book in that order; this does not change your reading progress or mean the next book is unread.
Library owners and editors can set Series and Position in series under a book’s Manage controls. Leave position empty when unknown. Clear the series name and position to remove the membership. A book currently has one primary series.
Edit an audiobook file entry to set Narrators, one name per line in credit order. Its book page links to each narrator’s audiobooks. Aldus matches names across case and whitespace while keeping their display spelling; it does not try to identify people from old edition labels.
Import review shows embedded series and narrator evidence. Agreeing series tags are carried into new books; conflicts require an explicit series override or are left empty. Existing books and editions keep their curated series and narrator values. No source file is rewritten.
If this navigation reports that a server update is required, existing library browsing remains available in Library.
Review metadata corrections
Section titled “Review metadata corrections”Library owners and editors can open Manage → Details → Find book details to correct book information from Open Library. Save any manual edits first.
- Search by title, author, or ISBN and select View editions for the right book.
- Choose the matching edition by its language, publisher, and ISBN, or review the general title record. Aldus shows up to 50 editions and puts a match for the book’s current ISBN or language first when found. It does not automatically choose an English edition.
- Compare the current and suggested values. Select only the fields you want to replace, then choose Apply selected changes. Nothing is selected by default, and canceling makes no changes. Selecting a missing suggested value explicitly clears that field; the title cannot be cleared.
If another editor changes a selected field after the preview loads, Aldus asks you to reload the preview. Changes to unselected fields are preserved. Each corrected field retains its last selected Open Library record and edition reference on the server.
These are details for the library title shared by its ebook and audiobook. Choosing an edition does not replace or rename source files, change alignment, or move reading progress. First published describes the original title, not the selected printing. Series and narrator credits remain unchanged.
Fill missing details remains available for the existing automatic fill-blanks workflow. On an older server without metadata review, use that action or edit fields manually.
Share a collection with family
Section titled “Share a collection with family”Open your collection and choose Sharing. Select a library, then Save sharing. Every book in the collection must belong to that library. Its members can open the list from Collections → Shared with your libraries, while only you can edit it. Each reader keeps their own reading position. Choose Only me to stop sharing.
Private lists remain private by default. Sharing a list never grants access to books or to a library. If its creator loses library access or is disabled, the shared list is unavailable. Deleting its creator’s account or the library deletes the shared collection. Older servers still support personal collections; shared actions require an updated server.
